The client’s goal in this circa 1900 building in the historic district of Anderson was to preserve the unique architectural features inside and out as well as to create a residence for themselves on the 3rd floor. Special features that were preserved include the brick and granite exterior, bracketed cornices with dentil detail, 2/2 arched windows, and three semi-circular arched openings in the entrance. In the interior, the wood trim details and doors were preserved. An addition was added to the courtyard side of the building to provide extra space for all three levels. The first and second levels contain office spaces and a garage, while the third level is an apartment that can be reached by a new set of fire stairs and modern elevator.
