Dyar

As seen in Builder/Architect magazine Jan./Feb 1999

Stately eight-foot mahogany doors with beveled glass invite you inside the elegant Dyar home and across beautiful hardwood floors with inlay. Developed with dry stacked Tennessee stone and white brick, this home was completed in 1998. Traditional arched openings and columns on the first floor create a sense of formality while hand painted murals by artist Kathy Whitten in the dining room and their daughter’s bathroom add a touch of elegant whimsy. Mahogany paneled walls and cabinetry surround the study and it’s bay on the first floor. Natural light floods the two-story living room where you’ll find a stacked stone fireplace and a view out onto the terrace. Any gourmet chef would feel accommodated in the sophisticated European kitchen that showcases custom maple cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and pewter knobs and pulls. The spacious master suite is vaulted and boasts its own reading room, fireplace and private access to the terrace. The master bath also separate his and hers vanity rooms with unique custom cabinetry. Kathy Whitten’s artistry can again be found in the dainty vanity bowl into a furniture style cabinet in the powder room. The second level provides three bedrooms and private baths, all containing unique custom cabinets, as well as an activity room sure to stimulate any child’s creativity!
