The Gilmer residence was designed to have an unpretentious front elevation to fit in style and scale with its rural neighbors and to appear to look as if it had always been there. Entering into the marble entry from the porte-cochere, you are greeted by a wood paneled library to the right, and a dining room to the left featuring a hand painted mural by a local artist. A 19 foot coffered ceiling illuminated by cove lighting and clerestory windows across the rear of the house are the features of the living room.
The floor plan contains two large wings on either end, set at 45 degree angles, to provide private indoor and outdoor spaces for the homeowners. The left wing contains the kitchen, breakfast room, and sunroom while the right wing contains the master suite with a private morning area. The master suite also contains his and her baths, heated marble floors, custom cabinetry, and his and her walk-in closets. The pool area and 1,200 s.f. pool house are easily viewed from each rear facing room of the main house.
